Position descriptions:
Communications Co-Chair or Committee Member:
Duties include:
Help maintain the PTA website by updating information and beautifying the site.
Help ensure that the online calendar content is up to date (with input from board members and committee chairs).
Publish special events and awareness communications as needed.
Update social media with current events, reminders and after event posts.
Assist with putting together and publishing a monthly (or more frequent) newsletter
Volunteers Chair or Committee Member:
Duties include:
Recruits and manages volunteers for PTA events.
Checks in with committees and helps to find additional help as needed.
Trains committee chairs on PTSA procedures
Provides monthly volunteer status updates for meetings and communications.
Advocacy Chair or Committee Member:
Duties include:
Attends WSPTA Legislative Assembly as a delegate and Focus Day. Promotes participation in WSPTA and National PTA Action Alerts and Washington State PTA Advocacy Week.
Ensures the PTA has an appropriate budget for advocacy, including attendance at WSPTA Legislative Assembly and Focus Day, and other advocacy related expenses.
Builds relationships with Bellevue PTA Council and region advocacy chairs.
Keeps board of directors updated on any advocacy related communications from WSPTA, council and the school district.
Attends school board meetings, if possible, and gives a report to the board of directors.
Shares local concerns and the WSPTA platform with state and local decision makers (legislators, city council, school board, etc.)
Provides monthly advocacy status updates for meetings and communications.
Membership Chair or Committee Member:
Duties include:
Promoting membership at events at PTSA/school events (host a membership table)
Entering data from membership forms into MemberPlanet (WA State PTA membership database)
Encouraging online PTSA membership sign-ups
Reflections Chair or Committee Member:
Coordinates Bennett’s participation in Reflections, the National PTA art contest. Duties include:
Recruit Volunteers: Recruit a PTA Reflections committee and volunteer reviewers. Oversee the planning of tasks, timelines and duties.
Develop and Share Program Materials: Distribute materials to students and families and garner support from school and community partners.
Artwork Review: Conduct a fair review of student artwork to select student winners.
Celebrate Winners: Coordinate celebration and recognition for student winners.
Directory Coordinator:
Duties include:
Compile and organize family contact information into PTSA directory for sharing with families. This is a great short term position (September only!)
Parent volunteers are essential to the success of the programs and events at Bennett. The PTSA always welcomes and looks forward to having additional volunteers. We have positions and tasks to fit all schedules and interests. Just let us know whether a program, event, or activity interests you and when you might be free to help.
